So, what was that secret?

As most of you already know, with the release of Let’s Whisper’s latest EP Keep a Secret, came the announcement that WeePOP! will start releasing full length albums in giant-sized (standard 5″) cds.

This is something we have been talking about for over a year and we’re very excited to see it finally taking shape.

Apart from the disc size and the amount of music you’ll get, not much is going to change in comparison to our usual 3″ cd releases: the DIY ethos that are a big part of what we do is certainly going to be present, and even though more copies will be pressed, they will still be somewhat limited and individually hand numbered.

Let’s Whisper are currently working on what is to be our first release in this new format, and we should have it all finished and ready to go in the next few months.

In the meantime, there’s a lot of our usual 3″cd goodness in the making, so keep an eye out for the next update.

Keep a secret?

It’s exactly two years since Let’s Whisper came to London for the first time, back when we released their lovely debut “Make me smile”. Now they’re packing their bags again and coming to play another show, and once again celebrating the release of a new EP.

There is something extra special about this one - It holds a SECRET! We’re not giving any hints away, but I can say it’s something we are all terribly excited about!

The new EP, appropriately tittled “Keep a secret“, will be officially out on July 19th, but early copies will available next Friday, just as Dana and Colin land in London. They’re playing that evening with Moustache of Insanity and Pagan Wanderer Lu at the Betsy Trotwood. It’s a friday night, there will be free sweets, indiepop disco till alte, and the opportunity to discover a big secret. I couldn’t ask for more. Come along!

For more details on the show and advance tickets, please go to wegottickets or to pre-order the EP, head over to our release page.

Down for a ride by the sea

When we announced Awesome Sneakers a few weeks ago, we promised there’d be more coming soon, so here we are to once again bring you the exciting news of a brand new EP in the making.

Following an appearance on our Starting Anew compilation last year, and a long hibernation period, Stars of Aviation are back in full style, with an amazing little EP entittled By the shore, which is not only their come-back, but also a warm-up for a full length album the band is planning for sometime later this year.

For those unfamiliar with Stars of Aviation, they are a Brighton-London pop group who have been playing together since 2000, having since then grown in number to seven, eight and sometimes nine, featuring trumpets, accordions, keyboards and a bassoon. Even though the band hadn’t been too active in the past couple of years, we were luck enough to catch them in London several times, and they’re always a delight to see live.

By the Shore will be out next Thursday, June 24th, coinciding with their HDIF show at the Brixton Jam. With support by our very own Moustache of Insanity, this promises to be a great night (has a hdif show ever not been great?). We’ll also be turning three years old very soon, so there will be lots to celebrate and it would be great to see you there! More details here.

If Thursday just seems like too long a wait, you can get a taste of their new songs our release page already, where the EP is also available to pre-order.
